Lose your mental weight

If you want to lose physical pounds and feel awesome, you need to practice losing your mental weight. So, if you’re like me, you probably know some specific foods and/or libations that created your weight gain. In particular, for me, potato chips and wine were my favorite overeats/overdrinks.

Until I discovered thought work, I didn’t realize (or care) why I turned to chips and wine almost every day.

Working on my daily thoughts showed me that half of my weight loss journey was about finding the thoughts that resulted in reaching for chips and wine. Soon I realized that it was my THOUGHTS that lead to wanting to consume the combination of the salty chips and dry white wine. Thoughts I uncovered included:

“This family gathering is so stressful. I need to treat myself to chips and wine.”

“Today was another shitty day at work. Thank goodness I have chips and wine at home.”

I thought it was the actual sodium in the chips, and alcohol buzz of the wine, that made me temporarilaly feel better. But that was not true. It was just the thought I had that if I could consume both together, I would feel better. Maybe I did feel better while consuming both. But afterward, I also felt worse because I gained weight and felt ashamed.

I now know that chips and wine are not the best solutions to feeling bored, anxious, or depressed. Learning to be okay with feeling the full range of my emotions without food or alcohol is the best response to how I feel. Once I realized and practiced this, I felt a huge sense of relief. I started losing my mental weight and the physical weight followed. So now every day I look for thoughts and beliefs that weigh me down.

As your Coach, I want you to lose both your physical and mental weight. I can show you how.
